ART classes and workshops FOR ADULTS

The Appleton offers a variety of opportunities for adults to learn something new and practice or fine-tune existing skills. Courses and workshops range from one day to multi-week sessions with local artists, art instructors and special visiting artists. Art 101

Let these one-day workshops inspire your creative side and provide a fun, successful experience. We provide coffee in the morning; ages 21 and older may bring wine to the evening workshops.

2017 Summer Workshops:

Painting Wine Glasses: Thursday, August 17, 6-8:30 p.m.

Cost per one-day workshop: $30 for Appleton members; $35 for nonmembers.
All supplies are included.


Explore acrylic painting through these multi-week workshops for adults. All skill levels are welcome. Online registration and payment begins August 7.

2017-2018 Classes:

Claude Monet: Saturdays, September 2 & 9, 1–5 p.m.
Vincent Van Gogh: Saturdays, November 18 & 25, 1–5 p.m.
Palm Trees: Saturdays, January 6, 13 & 20, 1–5 p.m.
Florida Highwayman Landscapes: Saturdays, February 17, 24 & March 3, 1–5 p.m.

Cost per multi-week workshop: $75 for Appleton members; $95 for nonmembers.
All supplies are included.


In these six-week sessions for adults, create earthenware sculpture, vessels and other ceramic artworks using a variety of handbuilding or wheelthrowing techniques. Online registration and payment begins August 7.

2017-2018 Session Dates:

Session 1: September 11–October 16
Session 2: November 2–December 6
Session 3: January 8–February 12
Session 4: March 5–April 14

Then, choose from:
Handbuilding: Mondays, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Wheelthrowing A: Thursdays, 6–8:30 p.m.
Wheelthrowing B: Saturdays, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Cost per six-week session: $200 for Appleton members; $250 for nonmembers.
Fee includes 25 lbs of clay, glazes, firing and extra studio time on Saturdays from 1–4 p.m.

Art 101

Calligraphy Guild
Second Monday of the Month, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Learn the art of beautiful handwriting by joining the Ocala Calligraphy Guild, a group for all levels of interest and skill. The guild meets once a month on Mondays.

Upcoming Meeting Dates:
The OCG is taking a brief summer hiatus but will resume monthly meetings in September.
