The Appleton offers a variety of opportunities for adults to learn something new and practice or fine-tune existing skills. Courses and workshops range from one day to multi-week sessions with local artists, art instructors and special visiting artists. Art 101

Learn from someone who is a master in their medium! This series is for those who are ready to take their work to the next level.

Watercolor Pencils with Sue Primeau:
Saturdays, February 8, February 22, March 7, & March 21, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Watercolor pencils melt and explode with color when activated with water. In this four-week class, learn at your own pace with plenty of hands-on painting time in class and one-on-one instructor assistance with informative critiques. Materials not included; a supply list will be provided upon registration.

Art 101

These special workshops, led by Maritza Jauregui-Rodriguez, are where fashion and art combine. Appropriate for ages 13 and older.

Wearable Canvas:
Saturday, November 9, 1–4 p.m.
Your clothing is your canvas in this workshop! Bring a pair of jeans, skirt, jacket, etc. and learn how to transform it into wearable art.

Choose a white, red, or black shawl and learn to add your own touch.

Pottery

These four-week sessions offer potters of all skill levels a chance to practice and develop new skills and techniques in hand building and wheel throwing through fun and functional ceramic projects such as serving sets, vases, or your own creative expressions. Fee includes 25 pounds of clay, glazes, firing, and extra studio time from 1–4 p.m. on select Saturdays.

Open Studio Clay

Open studio time is available to ages 16 and older who have previously completed one six-week Dig Into Clay session.

Option 1:
Your choice of six Saturday afternoons from September 14–November 30 or February 1–May 2, 1–4 p.m. Includes access to a variety of glazes and firing of all work completed during the studio session. 25 pound bags of clay can be purchased for $30.
