Honoring Your Service: The Appleton Salutes Veterans
Sunday, November 18, noon-5 p.m.
Did you know that Marion County is home to more than 55,000 Veterans? Join us in a celebration honoring those who bravely served, or are now serving, our country. Here's what we have going on:
In the Galleries: An exhibition of vintage military prints from our permanent collection, and other special military-inspired displays. A map, available at the Visitor Services desk, will guide guests to other military-themed works of art throughout the galleries.
In the Art Lab: Join us for a special art-making activity that is appropriate for all ages and abilities!
In the Auditorium at 2 p.m.: Brooke King, U.S. Army Veteran, Professor, Poet, Author From the American Revolution to the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, Veteran Brooke King will discuss the often unnoticed gallantry and courage of American women on the battlefield. A video of oral histories from local Veterans and a presentation on famous Veterans will play before and after the 2 p.m. talk.
This event and talk are free for Appleton members, active-duty military and Veterans; included with admission fee for nonmembers.
Saturday, December 1, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Join us for a free family event to enjoy A Dickens Christmas, special exhibitions, permanent collections, and holiday crafts in the ARTSpace.
From 1-3 p.m., take a horse-drawn carriage ride, have a picture taken with Santa and enjoy light refreshments in the cafe.
